The Brazilian Fruit Growing Society (SBF) is celebrating its 43rd anniversary and its main mission is to support the development of national fruit growing and propose measures to protect the sector. We, who took over the SBF in October 2010, continue to make efforts to strengthen the actions established by the Society's bylaws and, consequently, support the strengthening of Brazilian fruit growing.

Over the past two years, we have been involved in the process of transferring the SBF headquarters from Santa Catarina to Bahia. We have been working in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Brasília, Porto Alegre, Bento Gonçalves, Campinas, Botucatú and Jaboticabal, working and representing the SBF. We strongly support the organization of the XXII Brazilian Fruit Growing Congress, held in Bento Gonçalves-RS. We organized and successfully carried out the 2nd edition of the Young Scientist Award in Fruit Growing, and we organized several media outlets to publicize the actions of Brazilian fruit growing - a new portal, a Facebook page and Twitter.

We are working to revive the history of the SBF, popularizing it among all those involved in our Society and others who want to participate in strengthening the scientific and technological production of Brazilian fruit growing. We created spaces to publicize and honor the scientific figures who make or have made the SBF, and Brazilian fruit growing, a world reference.
